Mirror, Mirror, On The Wall, Who’s The Wisest White Girl Of All?
#AskSCB: I’ve tried different products over the years, but my under eye circles don’t seem to improve much annnnd they definitely aren’t going away. Do you recommend anything? It’s just kind of sallow and faintly purplish and I feel self conscious about going out with a naked face. :(
I FEEL YOU, GIRL.
I have noticed in the last year that my under eye circles are more prominent – not necessarily just when I am not getting enough sleep, they just never seem to quite go all the way away.

The best thing I can recommend is to start using a specific eye cream if you don’t already that will help to firm/plump/brighten/liven your under eye area and prep the area to be camouflaged with a trusty concealer. I’ve been using the TULA Revitalizing Eye Cream for the last month or so and have noticed a significant difference in the resiliency of my under eye skin and can tell it’s improved the deeper circle discoloration.
A few other eye brightening recommendations to try:
- Dr. Andrew Weil for Origins™ Mega-Bright Dark Circle Minimizer
- Clinique All About Eyes Serum De-Puffing Eye Massage
- Mario Badescu Hyaluronic Eye Cream
- First Aid Beauty Eye Duty Triple Remedy
You don’t need to worry about putting on a whole face of foundation… Just take the time to find a concealer that appropriately MATCHES – aka is proportionately lighter than your skin tone to properly balance your dark circles – your face so you don’t have to worry about wearing any additional makeup if you don’t want to. Also: be sure to find one that has the wearability and level of coverage you want.
I use the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer in Custard, but sometimes it kinda slides off so personally I’m still in the market to find a really great undereye concealer that works for me and an otherwise naked face. I use YSL’s Touche Éclat a lot too, usually when I’m also wearing foundation and other makeup, but it’s what a lot of people swear by and it seriously works.
I’ve also heard great things about the Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Invisible Cover Stick Foundation! A creamy stick concealer is probably your best bet for solid coverage and all-day wear. If anyone has a concealer they love or any other products to recommend for this, please share in a comment!
