Confession: I don’t *use* sunscreen. And now I bet you’re thinking, is this like a Noxzema commercial or what?! So, let’s try this again: “what kind of sunscreen do you wear” was a most excellent// important question I was recently asked, and my answer used to be – I don’t wear it. I would buy the powders that promised SPF in their formulas, but I never could be bothered with applying a whole new layer of goo to my face in between all the others just to protect myself the three hours it’s sunny per year in Seattle…. Then I started to get sunglass tan lines, and the rest is history.
I started seeing the wonderful Celeste of the Kean Center for Skin Health here in Seattle, which is perhaps the most blissful and zen spa space I’ve ever been in. She hand picks all of the products carried (also the Jane Iredale mineral makeup line) and turned me on to the Dermalogica Dynamic Skin Recovery moisturizer. It’s light, feels great and is loaded with SPF – a winning, multitasking skinsaver. It’s like those 2-in-1 shampoo and conditioners, but THIS IS SO MUCH BETTER THAN THAT!!! (what, law schoolers, like it’s hard?)
Basically, if you’re anything like me then you skimp with the sunscreen step too, especially if you tan well. Do your skin the easiest favor by investing in a SPF-laden moisturizer like this (or whatever is best for your skin type) before the summer. As we grow into beautiful ladies, let’s help ourselves stay young by shielding the sun.

Seattle is small! I used to work with Celeste when she was at Westside Dermatology! She is amazing. As a Derm PA I’m hlad you are using some sort of SPF protection!
Hi Stacey! I just had a facial with Celeste today and told her about your comment… what a small world :) She is the best, and has created lots of good habits I am very thankful for haha!
