Adventures to Coachella

Another year, another Coachella in the books…

My most exciting piece of Coachella related news is that Disco Shark Prince and I celebrated our 1 year anniversary last week! We met on the dark dance floor of the Yuma tent on the Sunday of Coachella weekend 2 last year… So cute. Much vom. Very love. Wow.

Coachella Highlights.

On Friday, Black Coffee opened with the most amazing Purple Rain remix as a tribute to Prince, and a ton of other artists either dedicated their sets to him or mixed in various legendary Prince tracks… It gave the crowds ALL THE FEELS.

I saw Nic Fanciulli for the first time and was extremely satisfied with his set… We also caught a bit of George Fitzgerald and part of Underworld’s EPIC set in the Sahara. There was also a full moon, which was not something I’ve ever seen at Coachella before… My friend snapped this and I just remember being so amazed at how huge and bright the moon shone down on us as we danced out all of our demons.

I came down with a fever sometime in the evening and we left early after watching Ellie Goulding sing her heart out on the main stage. Apparently she just got dumped? :( That would explain why she did the most beautiful, toned down melancholy version of Lights…

On Saturday, we caught Matthew Dear, Sacha Robotti, and part of CHVRCHES early in the day before heading into the Yuma for Mano Le Tough (amazing as per usual), DJ Koze, RÜFÜS DU SOL — hands down my favorite set of the weekend… about 5 seconds of Zhu, Nina Kraviz, Claptone’s surprise set at the Do LaB, and Dubfire’s hybrid live show which was FUCKING BANANAS.

Sunday Funday was my favorite Coachella day to date. It was an absolutely amazing day and we had a perfect groove crew.

Of course I am THAT girl drinking white wine at the function…. It’s basically a tradition.

We made it in early to catch Claptone’s Immortal Live show, then Bedouin, Tensnake, John Digweed, Adam Beyer b2b Ida Engberg, and finally Maceo Plex. My commitment to being twinkle toes in the dance tent meant I missed Sia, The Chainsmokers, and Flume – buuuut life goes on. All in all, it was an exceptional weekend… And now the Postchella depression sets in.

While the Coachella lineup is always something to get excited about, I partnered up with TickPick to create my dream music festival lineup! Anyone who knows me and my musical tastes understands how perfect this is – mostly house and techno, with a side of west coast sad girl music.

TickPick _ Stone Cold Betch Edit

This might not be a dream festival lineup for anyone other than white girls who love house music, techno, and sad girl tunes like me… However most of these artists have played Coachella in recent years, so here’s to hoping one day my  TickPick lineup will come true! In the meantime, TickPick is a great place to get cheap tickets for not only concerts but sporting events as well, like the MLB and NFL.

I’m heading off on my next adventure this weekend — Vegas, for Further Future. More about this epic new music and lifestyle fest here.

Are any of you guys going to any music festivals this summer? Let me know in the comments! Hopefully I’ll be meeting some of you on a dance floor soon…

xx
